# Introduction
I am new to Meshtastic devices, but think they are cool. I really want to build a standalone solar powered router that will continue to function through rain or shine, summer and winter.
This is a work in progress. But, I have it up and running now for over a month with no real issues.
# Proposed Setup
This is a list of items that I think will be needed to make a setup that will run on its own in an unattended manor.
## Required Items
1. Liligo T-Beam.
2. External Waterproof enclosure.
3. External Antenna - 868MHz.
4. 18650 Battery to power the T-Beam.
5. Power Bank to act as a regulated power supply.
6. 10W Solar Panel to charge
## Challenges
1. Can a 10W solar panel charge a power bank in a day, while a T-Beam is running?
2. What difference does the number of daylight hours make as it changes throughout the year?
3. Can I remotely monitor the power usage & the solar panel charge power?
4. I will need a power bank that can take an input charge from a solar panel and provide power to the T-Beam at the same time (Passthrough Charging).
5. What happens when power is lost?
6. Protection for the batteries in cold weather. Batteries do not work well when it is freezing. This causes reduced capacity.
