I have used the Primus Ulti a total of 2 times. Once when I fired it up on my desk for a couple of seconds to make sure it worked. The next time it was used was on a Patreon Meetup with Paul Messner. He was very interested in the stove, so we fired it up to make some tea. That was the last thing it ever did. It worked fine for about a minute. Then the sound changed. At this point it was making a different noise and there seemed to be a fire underneath. At this point we shut it down and picked it up by holding the external gas line. The feet had melted and the underside of the aluminium stove had melted. My guess is that the stove had become too hot underneath and had distorted causing a gas leak. This was probably what caused the sound to change and why we saw fire coming out. It was approximately 7:30 am in the Peak District on a frosty morning. The temperature was approximately 1ºc. I was using a Coleman Xtreme 2.0 c100 gas canister. I do not recommend that anyone use this stove. It is not fit for purpose, and not reliable. It certainly seems like a decent competitor to the MSR Reactor. My advice, just don't. Use the MSR Reactor. It is bulletproof and won't destroy itself. At some point, I will post the video. Paul was kind enough to share it with me. It may also appear on his YouTube channel. For now. Don't buy a Primus Ulti. Especially, if you are going to somewhere where your life requires a stove to keep you alive. ## Update - 17th March 2025 This is an evolving issue and may be connected with the gas mixture used. I will add to this as I discover more information. I would also like to point out that Primus are reviewing the issue and are being very helpful. ## Update - 30th April 2025 I now have a new stove courtesy of Primus. They have also updated their instructions to be more specific on what gas needs to be used. They now say that only Propane / isobutane mixtures should be used. Never a propane/ butane mixture. I will give that a go at some point this week. I will video that and post it to YouTube.
